The Good Dinosaur Cake Tutorial
It’s no secret that I am a big Disney fan. That’s why next week my family and I will be going to see “The Good Dinosaur” that will start showing on Thanksgiving day. It looks like it’s going to be another great movie and we can’t wait to see it! After seeing the first trailer for the movie I started thinking of this cute The Good Dinosaur cake idea. I knew I wanted it to be chocolate and have both Arlo and Spot on top. Here is the link to the Arlo and Spot figurines (affiliate link) and here is the link to another set (affiliate link) I thought was cute with smaller figures! Then I started thinking of the other fun decorations I could put on top.
The scenes in the movie are just beautiful and I wanted to capture a bit of the natural looking scenery. I started with a chocolate cake that was iced with store bought icing. Then I decided to get some Brach’s chocolate covered bridge mix (affiliate link) and Ferrero Rocher chocolates (Affiliate link) to look like rocks/ boulders. I wanted to make some mountains and found that honey (affiliate link)and chocolate graham crackers (affiliate link) were perfect for mountains! I just used a serrated knife (affiliate link) to carefully cut each graham cracker into mountain shapes. I love using candies and cookies to decorate cakes because they make the cake taste even more amazing and it’s less work for me to do!
I love how this turned out and how quickly it came together! I know many of you want to know what that background is and it’s just fadeless bulletin board paper (affiliate link)! I also used a little photoshop magic to make the green and blue glowing stars ;).
Are you as excited as we are about this movie? I’d love to know what you think of it!
