Living in the southern part of the midwest we can expect pretty mild weather in the winter, but it’s not unheard of to experience temperatures well below zero also. I typically love how easy my hair is to manage in the summer months, but when it comes to the wintertime I really have to change my routine. If I let it go my hair will become dull, dry, brittle and easily damaged. Since we have had a cold snap recently I put together a new hair routine and I wanted to share my tips on how I am keeping my hair healthy and shiny this winter. It may seem silly, but having a good hair day really helps to boost my confidence. I love my long straight hair, but it does take some t.l.c. to keep it looking radiant.
My first tip is actually a brush recommendation. I recently found the new Goody Clean Radiance brush at Walmart and it’s been giving me amazing results. The Goody Clean Radiance brush works to massage the scalp and work through the hair to reduce buildup and restore your hair’s natural moisture balance. The copper bristles also work to give hair a healthier shine*. I’ve noticed that less oils build up on the top of my head and that my ends are not as dry since using it regularly. I can tell that my ends are really benefitting from it because they are normally dull, but they have kept that summer shine so far! Other things I love about this brush are that it’s easy to use and it has a flexible cushion pad for comfort. This is important for my long hair!
The second tip I have is using a scarf or hat to protect hair from the freezing temps. It also helps to protect the hair from the winter sun too. Believe it or not the sun can still have a pretty damaging effect on hair in the wintertime.
My third tip to keeping hair healthier is by using gentle hair accessories like Goody No Metal Elastics. I put my long locks up a lot even in the winter months and these are the only elastics I use. They slip on and off with ease, but hold my VERY thin hair tightly while on.
So far I’ve been impressed with the results of my hair care routine. What are some tips that you have to keep your hair looking it’s best in the winter?
