Tutorial: Turkey Headband or Hair Clip

Say Gobble Gobble!!!
Just in time for Thanksgiving!!! Make this easy craft for the little girl in your life.
What you will need:
4 rolls of 3/8 inch size ribbon (I used grosgrain and satin- some were not 3/8 inch size, but if you have it that size is best) I used the colors yellow, brown, red and orange… you could do any color combo and it would still be cute! Try varied colors of pink!
2 White buttons (I used the size that are usually found on shirts)
2 black buttons (they need to be smaller than the white) you can also omit the buttons and use googly eyes- your choice.
hot glue and scissors
headband or alligator hair clip

First start making small loops with your ribbon and secure each with hot glue.  They look like the loops on the awareness ribbons.  you will need 2 yellow, 2 orange, and 1 red…Leave them all separated…

Next take the buttons and glue the small black buttons on top of the white.

Take either your scissors or wood burning tool to make triangles out of the orange. Make sure to heat seal if you use scissors (heat seal is to touch the open ends with a flame).

Next make your brown loops for the turkey’s body.  I made a very tiny one first..

Then I made another one just bigger than that and layered them together. Secure with hot glue. Do the same for the bottom of the turkey, but make the loops a little bigger.  (I just noticed the hot glue on my finger…LOL!)

Now start building the “feathers” on the turkey… secure with glue.

Once you have finished the feathers then glue on the rest of the face… I did the beak first, then the little waddle (which was heat sealed also).  Next secure the eyes.

If making it into a clip secure an alligator clip covered with ribbon in the color of the turkey.

So Cute!!!

Option 2: make it into a headband… just hot glue it right on the band! So fashionable!!!

Or you may decide to go all out and weave a headband with your ribbon… I found this super cool tutorial on youtube: here

Happy Creating!
