Pom Pom Scarf or Garland

This scarf is so adorable!!!  I made it with “Valentine-ish” colors, but you can use any color combo you like!
Endless possibilities with this one…make it into a garland- or wreath too.
Beginner Level (great for kids ages 8 and up- they may need help with knot)
What you will need…
Yarn- colors of choice (you may need the whole roll if using one color)
good scissors
crochet hook (for last part)
cardboard
2 big buttons of matching colors

1st cut the cardboard in a semi circle like pic below- make 2 exactly the same.  Mine is about 2 1/2 inches in diameter.  (I call it Boppy shape)
Next place a piece of yarn on top of the first piece of cardboard.
Place 2nd piece on top of the other and sandwich the yarn inside leaving the ends out.
Now wrap the yarn around both- you will do this until…
it looks like this. Then with the two ends on the bottom tie a VERY tight knot.
The yarn should be about this thick- the thicker the better.
Once you are done with the knot… cut around the top evenly.
Now take the cardboard out and fluff it up.  Next take your scissors and even out the ends.
You can even have your kids help out! (my kids loved this part- they are 3 and 5)
Once you have made 15 or so depending on how long you want it… your next step is to string them together… Get out a crochet hook- size shouldn’t matter.  You will place the hook into the middle of the pompom.  From there place the yarn inside the hook.
Now pull the hook back through along with the yarn.
Pull down and start on the next one..
Once you have all the pompoms on the yarn grab one of your buttons… (sorry for the blur)
Next tie the button and make a double knot.  You are now finished!!!
So chic!
Looks amazing on my door as a garland!

Happy Creating!

Two questions...how do you get the knots tight enough that the poms don't shed? And do these hold up to hand washing?
