I love the Thanksgiving season because it reminds us to be thankful for everything! This year in homeschool we have been studying about the Pilgrims and what they had to endure during their first years on American soil. It reminds me how good we have it! No matter what situation I find myself in I try to remember to have an attitude of “gladitude”! This Thankfulness Wreath with Gold Dipped Leaves is a visual reminder of some of the things that my family is grateful for. I got this idea after seeing the Family Fun Wreath of Plenty .
What you will need for my version:
3 inch Brown Fabric strips made from about 1/2 yard of fabric
Gold Sharpie or Gold Elmer’s Paint pen
Ball head straight pens that are colored gold
acorn embellishments (found mine at walmart)
Card stock in various colors for fall like red, green, orange etc.
foam wreath (mine was found at Hobby Lobby)
Making this is so easy. I wrapped the fabric strips around the foam wreath and hot glued the ends of the fabric only.
I wanted to make this wreath look like it had leaves that were dipped in gold. I just cut out a simple leaf shape from cardstock and used a gold Sharpie to color the tips of the leaves and right the different things we are thankful for on them. Then we just pinned them on the wreath! You can also use an Elmer’s Gold Paint Pen too. I also hot glued some acorns after we put all our leaves on the wreath…. this is optional, but I think it adds a nice touch.
We added the leaves all at once as a family, but you could add the leaves over time too. Also, this could be used on Thanksgiving day and all the guests could write their own too! The options are endless! We love our Thankfulness Wreath and we really do have SO much to be thankful for!
What are you thankful for?
