Patriotic Fruit Bouquet {Fruit Kabobs}

 I just love making up 4th of July treats to share with my family!  I thought of this Patriotic Fruit Bouquet because my girls love fruit and it looks so festive! They loved it and so did the adults. It has apples, watermelon, blueberries, maraschino cherries and marshmallows…all threaded onto wooden skewers and striped straws. So fun!

I’ll start off by showing you how to make the star apples since this was the most involved:

 Cut the apples width-wise about 1/4 inch thick. Take two different sized star cookie cutters and cut through the middle to make an open star shape.

Then soak the apples in either lemon juice or saltwater to keep them from browning. You only have to soak for about a minute then dry it off with a paper towel.

 Insert a star marshmallow into the open space of the star.

Insert the striped straws into the bottom and there you have it! The girls called them wands!!! So cute!

The next fruit version we used blueberries, maraschino cherries, and star marshmallows all on a wooden skewer.  So easy and creative!

What you’ll need (affiliate links):
Fruit: apples, watermelon, blueberries, and maraschino cherries
Star marshmallows
Lemon juice or salt water
Paper Straws: red & white and blue & white
Ribbon: red, white, and/or blue
Lastly we cut out stars from the watermelon and placed them on skewers…So fun! The little ones were perfect to just pop in your mouth!
So how did my kids like them?

They loved them!  I really couldn’t get them to pay any attention to the camera…lol!

They were totally enthralled with the fruit!

 It was a hit… and healthy too! This is a great way to get your kids to eat fruit if they don’t already.

 What is YOUR favorite 4th of July treat?
