Believe it or not… I have not decorated for the holidays in 2 years now. We were selling our home 2 years ago and once it sold we made a slow transition to getting into another home until the end of last year. I didn’t realize how much I missed decorating, but I am so glad that this year we have a beautiful home to decorate. Our home decor scheme includes lots of gold, stripes and floral prints. To transition our existing decor into a fall scheme I wanted to incorporate all the colors I already use. These Gold Leaf Candle Holders are perfect with all of our existing decor and they were so easy to make. I love the way that the fall decor makes our home feel and the American Home™ by Yankee Candle® brand candles I used in the candle holders make our house fragrant like fall too!
There is nothing I love more than the fragrances of fall and the American Home™ by Yankee Candle® brand candles are the perfect fragrances for the season. I found the American Home™ by Yankee Candle® products in the home and candle section of Walmart. American Home™ by Yankee Candle® products have many wonderful scents to choose from and I chose theMedium 2-Wick Tumbler Candle in Ginger Pumpkin Pie for $10.93,Medium 2-Wick Tumbler Candle in Shades of Fall for $10.93 and Warm & Happy Home 19oz Large Apothecary Jar Candle for $14.93. As a reminder: always make sure to follow instructions to a tee when using any candles in your home.
To make the candle holders you will need:
clear glass wide cylinders in a size that will hold the Yankee candles (I used 3 cylinders in 2 sizes)
1 package gold metal leafing flakes
clear glass adhesive
spray on poly sealer
paint brush
something to fill the cylinder with (I used white beans)
American Home™ by Yankee Candle® brand candles in the fragrances of your choice
To apply the gold leaf just paint on a coat of the glass adhesive and then immediately start pressing the gold leaf on the adhesive. You may need to re-apply the glue if there are spots missing or the glue dries before you get the gold leaf on. Allow this to dry and shake off any excess. Next spray the poly sealer onto the area with the gold leaf on it. Let this dry and then fill the cylinder with your filler and place candles inside. So cute!
I love how everything turned out and everyday I wake up ready to feel the cool brisk air that hopefully will arrive soon! How are you getting your home ready for fall? I’d love to hear your ideas!

I absolutely love this- you make it look so easy. I have always wanted to try gold leafing, and you just might have inspired me how to give it a go with empty candle jars! #client
