Is this the cutest cake or what? I first saw the use of gumballs as cake decorations on Whipperberry’s birthday cake and I used that as inspiration for this Minnie Mouse cake!
This cake is super simple and you can use any decorators icing to ice your cake! I just love how this turned out! Add some candles to make it a birthday cake or add your own special touch.
Minnie Mouse Cake!
Ingredients
- One double layer 6 inch or 8 inch cake iced with white decorators or buttercream icing and make swirls with a 1M tip around the top of the cake, 6 inch is pictured
- 50 gumballs, this is not exact, but will allow for enough- I found mine from Party City
- 1 package of regular Oreo cookies
- 1 package of Miniature Oreo cookies
- 1 package of PINK candy melt disks, I used Wilton found at Walmart
- white round pearl sprinkles, I find these at Walmart or Party city
Instructions
- First melt the candy melts and place the melted candy into a candy piping bag with just the very tip cut off. Use a piece of parchment to pipe around 10 bows that are 1 inch wide and 1/2 inch tall. While the candy is still melted place sprinkles in a polka dot pattern onto the bows. Let these set before the next step (You can place them in the refrigerator to set up quickly). Take regular Oreo cookies and the Mini Oreo cookies and scrape out the filling from as many as you need to go around the cake. Cut the mini Oreo cookies just at the bottom with a serrated knife. I only cut mine around 2 millimeters. Place one of the the regular Oreo cookie pieces on the cake and then place the ears on top of that to make a Minnie silhouette. Using some more of the pink melted candy place a small dot of the candy onto the regular Oreo cookie at the top then adhere one of the bows to the Oreo using the melted candy as a "glue". Repeat this around the cake with the Oreo cookies and bows. Place gumballs around the bottom of the cake and in the middle of each swirl on the top of the cake.
