Flavored Milk Mix Ornaments! Combine with milk for a tasty treat! A great stocking stuffer!

I love making homemade treats for friends and family.  These Flavored Milk Mix Ornaments are both cute and flavorful!  These would be a perfect  as a stocking stuffer or wrapped up in a box!  Each ornament has a different homemade flavor that when mixed with milk make a tasty treat.  I tried to keep the ingredients as natural as possible so these are even healthier than regular flavored milk mixes!

It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I would say that mine is the Cookies & Cream flavor!  My kids love the chocolate and my dad really enjoyed the strawberry.  Make one flavor or all!

Flavored Milk Mix Ornaments!

I used large plastic ornaments... yours may hold more or less mix. The mixes are like any mix you mix with milk and you should use a Tablespoon or two with each 8 oz. glass of milk to taste. The ornaments you choose should be food safe.

  • Plastic Ornaments found from Walmart in craft section
  • for Cookies and Cream:
  • 6 Tbsp . Powdered Sugar
  • 5 Oreo Cookies with cream taken out and discarded
  • optional: powdered vanilla
  • for topping
  • 3 or 4 crushed oreos without cream
  • marshmallow bits not mini marshmallows see notes
  • for Banana:
  • 6 Tbsp . powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup freeze dried bananas
  • 2 Tbsp . freeze dried banana yogurt drops found on baby isle
  • optional: powdered yellow food dye
  • for topping
  • colorful sprinkles
  • marshmallow bits not mini marshmallows see notes
  • for Strawberry:
  • 6 Tbsp . powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup freeze dried strawberries
  • for topping
  • colorful sprinkles
  • marshmallow bits not mini marshmallows see notes
  • for Dreamcicle:
  • 6 Tbsp . powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup freeze dried orange yogurt drop found on baby isle
  • for topping
  • colorful sprinkles
  • marshmallow bits not mini marshmallows see notes
  • optional: powdered orange food dye
  • for chocolate:
  • 6 Tbsp . powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp . Cocoa Powder
  • for topping
  • Chocolate sprinkles
  • marshmallow bits not mini marshmallows see notes

Instructions

  • Each ornament will be made using the same method. Combine the ingredients in a food processor and process until all ingredients form a powder. Fill the ornaments with the powders first by using a funnel. Top with the toppings in the order they are written also using the funnel except the marshmallow bits may need to be filled by hand.
  • Notes::: The Marshmallow bits are made for hot chocolate and usually are found by the hot chocolate mixes. The brand I use is Kraft and come in a container that looks like a Parmesan cheese bottle.

I have been searching for three days trying to find these bulb shaped ornaments. Besides hobby lobby can you tell me any other place to get them. Thank you. Marilyn

The ones I used for the milk mixes are from walmart, but they are seasonal. Same with the dip mix ornaments which I got from hobby lobby. Your best bet would be to wait until the first if the season next year.

On the Dip Mixes and Drink Mixes, will the contents fit in a 1oz. bottle? Or will it require a 2oz bottle?

    Thanks,

Hi Darlene. I am not sure what size bottle, but the ornaments are small so I assume the 1 oz. will work.

I look forward to doing each of your edible ornament recipes this year. I purchased my ornaments, but now have to figure out which ones will fit in each size.
I would also love to see these with instant oatmeal recipes or cup a soup recipes.

How do you attach the tops so they are secure? In particular, the cocoa mixes are heavy and the hanger will pull right out.

I’ve seen them at Walmart and Target. They are usually by the dried fruit. Just make sure it’s freeze dried.
