DIY Scallop Rug ⋆ Sprinkle Some Fun

Now that it is officially summer I wanted to add a little bright splash of color to my entry way. I decided a simple DIY canvas rug would do the trick and wouldn't hurt my budget. I've really been loving the scallop design trend and knew I wanted a scallop design on the rug! It was so easy to make with the FrogTape's Shape Tape™ in the scallop design!

Doesn't it look summery and bright in the entry way now? I love this design and the best part was that it took me just 30 minutes to make!

What you need:

FrogTape® Shape Tape™ Scallop design

Acrylic Paint

Fabric Fray Spray

1 yard of Canvas Fabric

Fabric Glue or tape

Scissors

The FrogTape® Shape Tape™ was so easy to use. I just placed the tape where I wanted it on the canvas and then painted the design. Since it is so hot outside right now the paint dried super fast and my rug was finished in no time. The FrogTape® has Paint Block® Technology which makes the paint adhere to the tape and effectively keeps the paint from bleeding. Once I peeled off the tape I knew that it had worked because my lines were perfect!!! To make the scallop edge I just cut around the FrogTape® Shape Tape™ before peeling it off. You will want to seal the edges once you are through with a fray glue.

To make things a little easier I just taped the new rug onto the existing one! It worked out really well! You could also cut it to the size you want and glue an inch or so seam on the non scalloped edge to give it a finished look.

Since this was such an easy project that made such a big difference in my entry way… I decided that I would change up my rug for different seasons from now on. With all the designs of FrogTape's Shape Tape there are endless possibilities!
