On November 1st (we started Christmas early this year) my girls were already begging me to watch “The Grinch”! It’s one of those must watch Christmas movies that we come back to every year! We will probably watch it 2 or 3 times before the season is over for sure. That’s why when I saw the cutest Grinch Cake from The Bearfoot Baker I knew that I had to do something similar. I really want to make that cake too, but I had all the ingredients for the Rice Krispie Treats on hand and we LOVE Rice Krispie Treats. I could probably make them for every dessert and my kids would love it. So here they are… “The Grinch” Rice Krispie Treats!
That lovable (although ornery) Mr. Grinch steals our hearts at Christmas for sure. These treats would be so easy and fun to take to any Christmas party!
"The Grinch" Rice Krispie Treats
- 5 cups Rice Krispies
- 1/4 cup butter
- 4 cups mini marshmallows
- green food coloring at least 10 drops
- red icing
- Christmas sprinkles
- Melt butter in large sauce pan over low heat then add marshmallows. Stir constantly until melted and completely blended. Add the green food coloring until it becomes a medium green color. Cook 2 minutes longer, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.
- Add cereal. Stir until well coated.
- Using buttered spatula or waxed paper, press mixture evenly and firmly in buttered 12x8 or 9x13 inch pan. Add sprinkles. Cut into squares when cool and then add an icing heart using the red icing. If let to dry for an hour the hearts will not be too stick to the touch.
Does your family love “The Grinch” as much as we do?
