DIY Travel Lap Pad

Small and functional… the travel lap pad is the perfect place for coloring fun in the car!

What you will need:
1 clip board- mine is from Walmart
paper for tracing (must be bigger than clipboard)
thin ribbon
pencil or pen
hot glue
1/2 yard of fabric
poly or cotton fill (could use foam or plastic beads instead)

(you could also use a pre-made small pillow- it’s up to you!)

 Directions:
(((((For the pillow: Take your piece of paper and place clipboard on top… trace around it then cut out… this will be the pattern for a simple pillow.  Cut out two pieces of fabric with the pattern…  Sew a 1/4 inch inseam around the two pieces together (make sure it’s inside out).  Leave a 3 inch space to turn it back out and so you can fill it with the poly or cotton fill (do not overfill- it should be filled lightly.  Once finished sew the space up. ))))
Next step hot glue the pillow to the back of the clip board… When you glue the edges make sure to hold down the pillow until it sticks well.

Keep gluing down the edges until they are all secure. (Be sure to use matching thread unlike me! ) 😛
Enjoy your pretty little lap pad!

Happy Creating!

Very cute! I like that it's smaller than other lap desks...perfect for littler laps!

This is such a cute idea. I may be attempting this for my nephew. He would love something like this, he's always drawing and coloring. Thanks for the great idea. I love your blog.

Seriously, why have I not thought of this before?? I love the idea of these for car rides, but all the ones I've seen are ridiculously expensive. But this is simple, cheap and customizable! And since it uses a clipboard the paper doesn't slip off, which is even better when you have a 2 year old. Thanks for sharing. I'm making one for sure!
