Having five kids can make life interesting.  I love being a mommy, but I also love my alone time!  I just find that I do better at the whole mommy thing when I’ve had a little time to unwind a bit during the day.  When the little kids are napping I usually tell the older ones to read a book… this gives me around an hour to do whatever I want to do without much interruption.  I usually get online to catch up with friends or occasionally watch a TV show.  I also always have to have a cup of something delicious and a snack.  One of my favorite drinks is Chai Tea and the TAZO® Chai Latte K-Cup® pods are my favorite way to make it.

I recently paired up the TAZO® Chai Latte with these Sweet Cinnamon Scones and it was a perfect way for me to enjoy my “me time”.

It’s like instant relaxation in a cup and I always look forward to sipping my TAZO® Chai Latte.  It has just the right amount of creaminess and provides a spicy and sweet escape.  It’s like exploring a new world in the comfort of home.  I know I can’t go wrong with the creamy blend of black tea, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and vanilla flavor.  Steeped in 5,000 years of Indian history, chai is a black tea blend that’s part sweet, part spicy, and totally unexpected.  I love how well it pairs with my favorite recipe for cream scones which I added some cinnamon to make it even better.

These sweet cinnamon scones are sweet and spicy just like the rich flavors that are in chai tea.  The cinnamon chips add an additional touch of flavor for these delicious scones.

Sweet Cinnamon Scones & TAZO® Chai Latte K-Cup® pods

Ingredients

• 1¼ cup Cake Flour
• ¾ cup All Purpose Flour
• 1 Tbsp . Baking Powder
• 3 Tbsp . Sugar
• ½ tsp . salt
• 5 Tbsp . COLD butter cut into ¼ inch cubes
• 1 cup heavy cream
• 1 tsp . ground cinnamon
• 1/2 cup cinnamon chips

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine Flours, baking powder, sugar, cinnamon and salt in medium sized bowl. Cut in butter with hands or fork until the mixture looks like wet sand. Add cream and cinnamon chips and stir together lightly (do not over mix- dough should be somewhat lumpy).
2. Roll out dough lightly onto a floured board until the dough is about ½ inch thick and the shape of a rectangle and around 10 to 12 inches long. Use more flour (cake or AP) if dough is too sticky to work with. Then cut out the dough into 12 squares. Once you have the 12 squares then cut them each in half to make triangles.
3. Place on a lightly floured baking sheet and bake at 350 for around 15 minutes or until edges are turning light brown. Enjoy!
