Friday night a group of us got together to watch a pre-view of the new movie Home Run! We sent out flyers to all of our neighbors and everyone at our church. We also invited our family to come too. We had 10 people in all that came and everyone was so excited to see this movie!!! Home Run is a movie based off of thousands of true stories from the Celebrate Recovery program. The main character, Cory Brand, is a well known professional baseball player that is on the brink of losing his career. This movie shows the very realistic battle that goes on with someone that is dealing with an addiction. I know there are so many lives that have been touched by the Celebrate Recovery program and hopefully this movie will spur others to join in as well!
Since baseball is a theme in the movie we went with a baseball themed party! We had popcorn, Cracker Jacks, peanuts, chewing gum and mini baseball cupcakes!
I just love how these turned out!!! My husband (the pastor) used to play baseball growing up so he was especially excited about the theme and the movie!!!
I have to say that this movie met all my expectations and even went above them. The characters were believable and the story really kept us guessing until the end. Our friends and family all said the same things too. We all felt that the acting, cinematography and script were all great! The movie was actually filmed in Oklahoma (where I live) and a friend of ours played a small part in it!!!!
We also talked about Celebrate Recovery and there were some that knew what it was before watching the movie and some that didn’t until we discussed it. I’m somewhat familiar with it, but after watching the movie I realized that Celebrate Recovery could apply to almost all of us! There are so many hang ups in life and this program points to the REAL solution… Jesus Christ. I wish I could spoil it for you right now, but I am going to just have to leave it there! 😉
My husband gives this movie “2 Thumbs Up”! 😉 This movie is one that you will want to see for sure!
Home Run will be shown in select movie theaters starting April 19th. You can check the Home Run Movie website to see if there will be a show near you and you can even purchase tickets ahead of time! If you don’t see a city near you then go check out Batting 1000 program and see how you can get it to a town near you!
Now that I have seen this movie I cannot wait until it comes out in the theaters. I am praying that the tickets will be sold out! To find out more about this movie and to help spread the word find the Home Run Movie on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. Be sure to also check out the Home Run Store where you can find T-shirts, Flyers and more.
