Patriotic Taco Salad Bowls (4th of July Party Recipe)

Have you ever noticed that most of our American holidays are celebrated in the summer?  Memorial day pretty much kicks off the summer season and Labor day finishes it out.  Of course my favorite of the summer holidays is the 4th of July!  It’s the one that I remember growing up the most and it’s always been a time to be thankful for our country.

These Patriotic Taco Salad bowls can be for any holiday and makes a great 4th of July party recipe.

So the question you may be wondering is how I got the tortilla bowls to form the shape of a star.  I actually found these star shaped tortilla pans and they worked out great!  These are the only ones that I know of that are a star shape and you can find them here.  I love how they turned out!  Usually you see all kinds of burgers and hot dogs for the 4th of July, but these are a really unique spin for a 4th of July party recipe.  I just made the tortilla bowls in the oven and filled them up with all kinds of toppings.  I like setting out the bowls and toppings separately for a party, but you can make them ahead too.

What do you like in your taco salad?  We put mostly red, white and blue fillings in ours!  The blue corn chips are perfect for a “blue” color and the tomatoes and sour cream are great for the red and white.
