Gingerbread m&m mix ornaments (sugar cookie and hot cocoa) These make the cutest gifts and double as a sweet treat! #shop

Gingerbread M&M Mix Ornaments! {Sugar Cookie Mix and Hot Cocoa Mix} is a sponsored post.  This post contains affiliate links.

Do you like giving or receiving homemade  gifts for the holidays?  I know I do!  I just adore mixes in a jar and so I decided to make my own version this year using ornaments!   Last year I made some Hot Cocoa Mix Ornaments and my family and friends went crazy for them!!!  This year I am making them a little different with some Gingerbread M&M’s that I found at Walmart!   There are two different ornaments… one for cookies and one for hot cocoa that use the Gingerbread M&M’s!   I think it worked out perfectly for this cute and easy craft!

So what do Gingerbread M&M’s taste like?  They are like regular M&M’s only slightly thicker and have the perfect amount of Gingerbread taste to them.  There is a fine line between a good Gingerbread flavor and too much Gingerbread flavor and these are just right!

This Gingerbread M&M Hot Cocoa Mix is so decadent… lots of chocolate flavor with a hint of Gingerbread. Yum!

I love how the M&M’s melt in the hot chocolate!!!

Gingerbread m&m Hot Cocoa Mix Ornaments!

Author: Rachel

Ingredients

  • 1 packet of hot cocoa mix mixed with 1/4 tsp ginger and 1/4 tsp cinnamon any brand or variety will work as long as you include the right amount of water in your instructions, affiliates
  • 2 Tbsp . of sprinkles affiliate; Christmas colors look great
  • Mini Marshmallow Bits affiliate; use only the hard kind that you find in a container by the hot cocoa mixes at Walmart
  • Gingerbread m&m's... about 2 Tbsp. Enough to fill to the top
  • Craft supplies:
  • I recommend food safe ornaments. If that isn't a concern affiliate, you can find them here .
  • Funnel that will fit in the ornament for filling
  • Ribbon in Christmas colors to tie at the top affiliate

Instructions

  • Take the top off the ornament first then take the funnel and place it into the ornament. Use the Hot cocoa first and pour it in. Make sure to shake the hot cocoa to a straight layer before going to the next layer. Next use the sprinkles and again make sure that it is even before going to the next layer. I sometimes use something small like a skewer to push things around if they are not even. Add the marshmallows next then the m&m's. Put the top back on the ornament. You should not need anything to keep the mixture inside the ornament if you use the ones I called for, but if you use a different kind then make sure to place a piece of foil at the top before inserting the ornament top. It is not recommended that you hang these ornaments after they are filled. Use ribbon to decorate the top and include directions to make the hot cocoa. Your directions should state that the mixture should be combined with the exact amount of water or milk that the hot cocoa calls for on the packet.

Gingerbread m&m Sugar Cookie Mix Ornaments!

Author: Rachel adapted from all recipes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of All Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup and 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • Around 1/2 cup of Gingerbread m&m's or however much will fit into the ornament
  • Craft Supplies:
  • Large Plastic Ball Craft Ornament I found mine in the Walmart craft section
  • ribbon to tie at the top Christmas colors look great
  • Funnel for filling the ornaments

Instructions

  • Mix the flour, baking soda and salt together first. Take the top off the ornament first then take the funnel and place it into the ornament. Use the flour mixture first first and pour it in. Make sure to shake the flour mixture to a straight layer before going to the next layer. Next use the brown sugar and again make sure that it is even before going to the next layer. I sometimes use something small like a skewer to push things around if they are not even. Add the white sugar next then the m&m's. Put the top back on the ornament. You should not need anything to keep the mixture inside the ornament if you use the ones I called for, but if you use a different kind then make sure to place a piece of foil at the top before inserting the ornament top. It is not recommended that you hang these ornaments after they are filled because they will be too heavy. Use ribbon to decorate the top and include directions to make the cookies.
  • Directions to make the cookies:
  • Attach a card with the following directions:
  • Gingerbread m&m Cookies
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line one baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Empty the contents of the jar into a large bowl and mix until all the ingredients are well combined.
  • Using your hands work in 3/4 cup softened butter or margarine until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Beat 1 egg with 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Work this into the flour mixture until well combined. Dough will be a little crumbly.
  • Shape dough into 1 inch sized balls and place 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet. Slightly flatten the balls with the palm of your hand. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 10 to 14 minutes or until the edges are lightly browned. Remove cookies to a rack to cool. Makes about 1 dozen cookies.

I think they both turned out super cute and they double as yummy treats!  Make one for everyone on your list this year.  🙂

I am not sure where else you could find these exact ones. I hear that Michael’s has them, but I have not personally checked that out myself. Hope you find them!

I found them at WalMart on a random isle close to the Christmas stuff. The were .88 cents each. At Michaels they were about 2.50 each.

Hi Kimberly! I am not sure what you are asking. Maybe it was the Hot Cocoa Ornaments I posted last year here: http://bubblynaturecreations.com/2012/12/hot-cocoa-mix-ornaments.html

      Hope that link helps.

I tried finding gingerbread M n Ms but I honestly couldn’t find them at any stores. Walmart, Kroger or Ingles in my location. Do they have to be ordered special? I know Amazon does not have them. I checked. Thank You!
