Fishing Fun with the Family ⋆ Sprinkle Some Fun

Making memories in the summertime is something that we do often with our kids. Summer is not the time for my kids to be sitting and watching TV all day. I want their memories of summer to be filled with fun things we did as a family. We get 18 summers before our kids turn 18 and I want all 18 of those summers to be awesome! One of the things we like to do as a family is go fishing. Usually we go camping and take some of that time for fishing, but this year we have access to a neighborhood pond! We take the kids there for catch and release fishing anytime we want now.

My youngest daughter was the first to catch a fish on our latest fishing trip the other day!!! I couldn’t believe how fast she was able to catch one. With a little help from daddy she was able to reel the fish in and then he helped her release it back. Our neighborhood pond is for catch and release only, but it’s a great place to practice our fishing skills. My kids get so excited when one of us catches a fish and it’s fun to watch them all gather around to watch it being pulled in.

My Shakespeare ladies rod and reel is amazing to use. It’s easy to cast the line and on our last fishing trip I caught a fish right away! I absolutely love the color of this rod and reel and I know I will get many years of use out of it.

My youngest is still just a baby and so I always make sure to have things for him to do while we are fishing. A nice big blanket and toys are always a great choice for him. I also have him help me hold the rod while I fish and he loves to just sit there and help me!
