I attended the Food Tours of America West Village Restaurant Hop as a guest and received complimentary tickets for my spouse and I. No other compensation was given. All opinions are mine alone!
My husband and I just celebrated our 10 year anniversary and we decided to take a trip to Dallas to celebrate. Over the course of this week I will be highlighting some of my favorite things to do in Dallas! Next week there will be an awesome giveaway so you can have a chance to experience Dallas too!
The first day we were in Dallas we went on a Food Tour at the West Village with Food Tours of America! I had never been on a Food Tour, but it seemed like a neat way to explore Dallas through taste! I have to say that I was blown away with how much fun this was!
We met at Baboush restaurant which is one of the top restaurants in Dallas. When we got there we were greeted by our tour guides Jason and Vanessa! Our guides made the experience so relaxing and entertaining. They were very knowledgeable about the history of the area and of course the food! I am highlighting some of the foods we tasted on our West Village Restaurant Hop tour (they are subject to change with each tour) starting with Baboush…
I think Baboush was my favorite over all even though it was really hard to pick which restaurant I liked the food at the most. The ambiance was great there. Baboush has a Turkish/ Lebanese cuisine which I had never tried before, but I was very impressed. The picture above shows the 3 different spreads they gave us. I loved the flavors and spices in each one. The Moroccan Sweet Tomato was amazing… it had hints of cinnamon and orange water in it which was a new tasting experience for me. I also loved the Hummus which was so smooth and creamy. I definitely want to go back there sometime! After we tried the 3 spreads they sent out more delicious foods to taste. I almost just wanted to stay there, but I was excited to see what else would be on the tour. Next stop was Taco Diner…
We were seated immediately at Taco Diner. I was very impressed that the Tour Guides and restaurants had this all planned out that we didn’t have to wait! The staff at Taco Diner were so friendly and greeted us with a smile. We were served corn tortilla chips with some of the best tasting salsas first. Then they gave us a Citrus Marinated Chicken Taco with Grilled Fresh Pineapple! The spices were perfect on this! Smoky, a little spicy and then the pineapples added the perfect sweet touch. Next time I go to Taco Diner I will be sure to order a few of these! Up next was Uptown Pub.
The Uptown Pub is located in an older building with a fun history and our tour guides were able to tell us all about it! We had Pulled Pork Sliders while we were there and they were delicious. I know a good BBQ when I taste it and this one was great! Don’t expect to get one of these at the Uptown Pub though… they made these special just for the Food Tour! By this time in the tour everyone was getting to know each other a little better and we had some fun conversations around the table at Uptown Pub. It seemed like a little “Cheers” in Dallas! After we finished there we rode the trolley to our next stop…
The trolley was an experience all to itself with a lot of history behind it! I would share, but that would take away from all the fun you’ll have when you go!
Last but not least was the Bread Winners Cafe! You may have heard of this place like I had. It’s pretty well known, but for a very good reason… oh those desserts!!! This Chocolate Seduction Cake was simply divine. Layer after layer of chocolaty goodness and cream galore. If you like dessert then this will be your favorite stop. I was sad that this was the end. Not only did we have delicious food, but we made some friends too. Food, friends, fun and history… this tour has it all! If you live in the Dallas area or are going to Dallas anytime soon I highly recommend going on a Food Tour with Food Tours of America. They have several to chose from and the West Village Restaurant Hop is just one of them. To find out more you can find Food Tours of America on these channels:
