This is the last of the Re-purposed Jeans series. I absolutely LOVE this vest, and it was easy to make! You could of course use any ribbon with this vest. So Cute!!! I didn’t plan it but EVERY tutorial I did for this series used ribbon along with the jeans… I guess I like denim and ribbon!!!

#5 Denim Ruffle Vest
What you will need:
Jeans
Ribbon
fitted t-shirt for pattern
thread- sewing machine
Directions:
Take and cut your jeans legs out all the way up and cut to the hem on both sides. You will want to use the widest part of the leg for this. A size 12 or larger would work best for this project on a vest for anyone over 4 years… you may be able to make a smaller one with a smaller size.
Use the widest part of the leg and use your shirt as a pattern. I started with the back and only cut about half the length since it will be a copped vest. I omitted the sleeves for this… it was just easier!!!
Once you have the back cut out move to the front. You will want to make sure when cutting that you give yourself enough room to sew… about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch for seam allowance is necessary. What I did was cut out the vest bu using the shirt as a guide.
Next pin down the top and sides (inside out) where you will sew… Be very careful not to sew too much up the sides… you want enough room to pull the arms through!!!
Next sew the ribbon around the inside and bottom edge of the vest. I did this ruffle much like I did the denim apron. Also be sure to sew the edges around the arm. Make sure you use a zig zag stitch to give it some stretch!
Now let your sassy second born strut her stuff…
Pure cuteness!
Happy Creating!

Cute way to wrap up this series - too bad my Bugs are boys and probably wouldn't appreciate a ribbon ruffle vest :) Your second born is adorable!
