We recently stayed at a hotel in our hometown after our dishwasher leaked and caused a good portion of our brand new wood floor to warp! I was definitely not planning this 5 day excursion in our own city, but it was pretty fun for the kids to spend the night in the hotel. We only had a few days to pack up and I wanted to make everything as easy as possible.
I learned that using plastic wrap to help separate everything in your suitcase makes packing a whole lot easier! Packing with plastic wrap also saves money compared to buying travel containers for things like toiletries. These 5 Clever Packing Tips using Plastic Wrap will are some of my favorite hacks for packing my bags!
So which plastic wrap is the best to use? My favorite plastic wrap the Reynolds KITCHENS® Quick Cut™ Plastic Wrap and comes in a convenient dispenser that has a built in slide cutter. It’s SO amazing and by far the easiest to use! I definitely won’t go back to regular plastic wrap containers because the quick cut is a game changer.
First tip is wrapping up jewelry in plastic wrap. This first hack was introduced to me by my mom! She uses this trick for plastic wrap when camping and traveling. It keeps necklaces and bracelets from tangling all together. It also helps to separate earrings into their pairs so that they aren’t as easily lost. Just place the earrings in pairs separated by a little space and then roll them up! So easy.
The second tip is to wrap up any and all toiletries that might leak or have any kind of moisture. Things like toothbrushes and soaps are perfect for this. I am a bar soap user and I really like that plastic wrap allows me to take a bar along with me during my travels. My toothbrush also gets wrapped up and I don’t have to worry about keeping up with the travel container I used to use. For any bottles that I have in my bags… a little square of plastic wrap added under the lid helps to keep it from spilling out! I also use it for my hairspray when I can’t find the lid.
Tip number 3 is a hygiene issue and a great reason to use plastic wrap. Shoes can be wrapped up in the plastic wrap and this prevents the soles from touching any clean clothes or items that shoes should not be in contact with.
Tip 4 is wrapping up any electrical items like phone cords, laptop cords etc. This will keep them nice and separated inside your travel bag and helps prevent the cords from tangling together.
Tip 5 is wrapping up makeup! I really dislike my makeup bag being a mess and nothing gets it messier than traveling. Even when I use my nice organized travel makeup bag… there is always one loose lipstick or blush that makes a mess on everything else! Wrapping up my brushes, lipsticks and anything else that might spill helps to prevent this problem. I love my nice clean makeup bag as a result!
I know my packing for our little hotel stay was much easier because of these 5 Clever Packing Tips using Plastic Wrap.
