It doesn’t seem possible, but we are nearing the end of October already! Those little ones with all their cute Halloween costumes will be on our doorsteps soon! We really don’t do a whole lot for Halloween, but I do like to wait for all the trick or treaters to come by so we can pass out candy. I love seeing what creative costumes the kids have on! I always keep a few snacks around so that we don’t eat all the candy ourselves. This year, while we are waiting around to pass out candy, we will have a little spooky fun with these Creepy Eyeball Cheese Balls! These are made with California Ripe Olives and a Ranch Cheese Ball Mixture!
You can serve them on crackers or chips. Despite their spooky appearance these taste great! I really like how the ranch kicks up the flavor and compliments the California Ripe Olives well. When picking out olives I like to use California Ripe Olives. They are the perfect pantry staple and California Ripe Olives provide a pop of color, texture, and flavor to a variety of dishes. California Ripe Olives are also kid-friendly and the perfect option for creating tasty and creative food art for Halloween. We also use them for snacking right out of the can. They are so delicious!!! My girls and I may have snuck a few in our mouths before they made their way into the eyeballs. 😉
- 1 15 oz. can California Ripe Olives rinsed, drained and patted dry with a paper towel
- 1 8 oz. package of cream cheese softened
- ½ packet ranch dressing mix (dry)
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese
- food art marker in red
- Mix all but the California Ripe Olives with a mixer on high until smooth. Roll the mixture into balls with hands that are around 2 Tbsp. and put them on your serving plate. Once you have them all rolled and on the plate then put a California Ripe Olive into each ball right in the middle with the hole facing up. Use the food marker to make the veins and serve after chilling in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. Serve with pita chips, crackers or veggies.
While plating these Creepy Eyeball Cheese Balls, I thought they looked neat in “pairs” of eyes as well as individually. It’s such a fun and funny finger food!
