How to Make Butter
Whenever I cook or bake with whipping cream I usually end up with some (or a lot) left over. One way that I like to use up the leftover heavy whipping cream is by making my own butter. There is just something about fresh butter and I LOVE this easy method to make it. All you need is a mixer (stand or hand)! Take the heavy whipping cream (not ultra-pasteurized) and a dash of salt (if you want it salted) and beat on high until you see the butter fat separate from the buttermilk. Just keep whipping and you will see the change. It only takes a minute or two to make your own homemade butter!!! You will need to separate the buttermilk from the rest of the butter and for this I suggest a mesh strainer. I just keep pushing up against the sides of the strainer until the liquid is gone. Then rinse with really cold water to get the excess buttermilk off. The supermarket butter cannot compare to the fresh made butter. This is hands down the best tasting butter!!!
This is a great experiment for the kids too! We once tried the shake it in a jar method and it took SO long. The mixer method is easy and quick, but the shake it method was fun to experiment with. Have you ever used the mixer method to make your own butter? Later on this week I am sharing a favorite recipe that I love to use this butter for. I can’t wait to share!!!

This is great! I'm curious to know how long it keeps in the fridge before it goes bad?

We always eat it up in 2-3 days so I just don't know. I think it depends on the amount of buttermilk that might be left in it, but if you get all of it out then it should last as long as store bought butter.

I'm a bit confused.. heavy whipping cream? Or just whipping cream? Bc heavy whipping cream will turn into whipped cream and whipped cream is loaded with toxic food by products.

Sorry. It's heavy whipping cream. Thanks for noticing that. The heavy whipping cream will turn into butter when whipped past the point of whipped cream.
