One of the hardest things that I’ve ever had to do was leave my tiny newborn baby in the NICU at the hospital. I cried every night that I had to go home and leave her there. That’s why I can’t even imagine what it would be like to not be near the hospital that my child is in like in the case of many families with kids facing serious illnesses. I think what Ronald McDonald houses charities provide for these families is amazing! It’s so great that there is an organization providing a place for families to stay close by. In 2016, RMHC provided 2.4 million overnight stays to families.
My family is collecting pop tabs that help raise funds for the Ronald McDonald house! I’m also going to attempt to juggle some balls for a quick and simple fundraising idea. This will help teach my kids to care for others and make a difference in the world.
I had my kids make little paper houses to collect the tabs in. Just print the sheet here and have the kids color it. Then assemble the house and make a cardboard bottom for it. Cut a slit in the side to collect the tabs. When it’s full we will donate the tabs to the Ronald McDonald House.
I think it turned out so cute and the kids loved making them.
Some other ways that you can give back is by making a game or challenge.
RMHC has a goal of providing 12,500 more overnight stays to families of sick children this year. Will you help meet this challenge with me? I know they can make this goal with us all pitching in!
