Step into any mall and you’ll know how crazy popular neon is. When shopping for my little girls I feel like I have stepped back into my childhood! I love bright colors and think that the neon trend looks really cute. Recently I discovered an easy way to make jewelry and embellishments with Mod Podge Mod Melts. If you can use a glue gun then you can make these- it’s THAT easy! I love how the Neon Necklace and Earrings turned out for my little girl.
What you will need to make your own:
Mod Melts sticks and high temp glue gun
Mod Mold Royal Icon ( I used the heart)
Folk Art Neon Acrylic Paints
Mod Podge Extreme Glitter or high gloss
Folk Art Neon Paints in colors of choice ( I used pink, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple in the neon colors)
Jewelry Making Supplies:
Either make a simple black bead necklace or use a small black ball chain which will give the same look
Jewelry 3 in 1 pliers
First make the hearts by filling the Mod Mold with the Mod Melts. Simply heat up the mod melts in the glue gun and use it just like hot glue!
As soon as the Mod Melt cools down you can pop the piece out of the mold. You will need 8 of these. Paint your hearts with the colors of choice and once they are dry seal them with Mod Podge. I used the Mod Podge Extreme glitter which looked great.
Once they are fully dry line them up in the order that you want and connect them together using the Mod Melts. Glue a toothpick in the middle to make it secure and two jump rings on the ends.
When it cools down then bend the hearts to make them curved… this will also break the toothpick.
String your necklace in the first jump ring and string it around each heart. Then string it through the second jump ring.
To make the earrings you will need to stick a jewelry pin into the heart from the top. Then with the jewelry pliers you can make a loop and finish it off. Add a jump ring to your loop and connect it to the earring hook. It’s now ready to wear!!!
Super cute and totally cool! 😉
